Who is Tanya Batt?
Tanya Batt is a storyteller from both New Zealand and Australia. She has been telling magical stories for over twenty years. One thing that makes her performances so special is her incorporation of very elaborate costumes.
Tanya also includes musical elements into her stories. The stories she chooses to tell are often traditional stories from around the world. Somehow while listening to Tanya tell a story, the audience becomes absolutely mesmerized. Here’s a link for three of Tanya Batt’s interviews.
At the International School of Beijing, with support from our PTA, we will be very lucky as she is coming to tell us stories from April 11-April 15.

Who is Julia Golding?
Julia Golding is an amazing author, and at the International School of Beijing we are so lucky as she arrives next Monday, November 15! What makes her an extraordinary author is her ability to carry out a series that enthralls the reader through each book. For example, Cat Royal has six titles in the series, and Companions Quartet has four. The Darci Lock series has two, but readers can rely on more titles to come. Ms. Golding’s books promise adventure–whether in a Nordic viking setting (Wolfcry) or experiencing the life of a poetically proned princess (Dragonfly). Ms. Golding is herself a traveler; it is obvious that many of her travels have inspired her works–like her trip to Norway inspiring Wolfcry. Having other careers, such as being a diplomat in Poland, have also seeped into her work as shown by following the espionage adventures Darcie Lock.
Readers will enjoy Julia Golding’s books! Also, don’t forget to visit her website where it’s filled with plenty of reviews, accompanying games and competitions to her books, plus instant feedback from Ms. Golding herself! She will respond to your comments almost instantly!
We’re excited to welcome you to ISB, Ms Golding!
