Where are you? Where have you been?

With a fantastic summer during June and July, I didn’t have much of a chance to blog on the Dear Librarian.  Yet now with the school year for 2009-2010, I will be back to answering questions about anything–electronic resources, information searching skills, literacy guidance, or even all the fun to be had on the web.

isblogosmall1Currently, I have just arrived to my new school: ISB, or in other words the International School of Beijing.  I’ve been in Beijing for over a week now, and I’m impressed by these three things: the phenomenal school I’ll be working at with family evident in the mission they are living; the outstanding home for my own family of four that is bigger and nicer than any international home we’ve had so far; and finally the kindness–including the many smiles and many “ni hao” hellos–of the Chinese people.

Don’t be surprised if you notice a shift in the culture as well as city information that might sometimes be answered on this blog.  With a new home accompanied by new adventures, I’ll be eager to learn about the rich community I’m living in.  Starting my 13th year of teaching internationally and fifth international school, I feel very lucky to have experienced and learned from all the cultures where I’ve taught.
